OUR PROGRAM
Emory Recycles feels the biggest measure of our success is told through the numbers: a 55 percent diversion rate in fiscal year 2007-2008. To-date in fiscal year 2008-2009, the University’s total waste is 7,139.16 tons. The amount of disposed trash is 4,719.33 tons, and our diverted waste is 2,473.83 tons. This results in a 35 percent diversion rate. Tonnages by material are broken out in the table below.

While our current rate has dropped somewhat due to a slowdown in construction activity on campus, it is important to realize that waste types, quantities and market values will continue to change, especially in our current economic status. However, our program continues to expand in these dynamic times. That resiliency, coupled with the behavioral change that our outreach and education programs hope to instill, is also a measure of success.
