Campus Plan Update 2004 The goal of the Update is to capture and consolidate the University's 10-year campus growth and development needs into a plan that supports the mission, vision, and ambitions of the academic and health care community. The planning effort will embrace all aspects of environmental need including site development, architecture, traffic planning, campus boundaries and identity. The process of the Campus Plan Update 2004 will begin with a revisit of the 1998 Campus Plan, definition and prioritization of the 10 year needs of individual departments and programs within the University, environmental analysis of campus precincts, and a study of global issues such as traffic and parking, utility systems, accessibility and the campus aesthetic. The Campus Plan Update 2004 Task Outline consist of:
During previous years of campus physical growth, elements requiring special attention, such as food service, delivery trucks, loading dock use and environmental protection goals, have been identified. These issues will be thoroughly studied as part of the Update so that effective decisions can be made based on growth and trends. The information gathered will form the basis of knowledge to be assessed in conjunction with the University's mission and vision framework. The synthesis of the information and the framework will be the result of a process led by Campus Planning teamed with Ayers Saint Gross, and in partnership with the Executive Officers and Deans of Emory University. The process includes many meetings with various campus constituencies, including Faculty, Staff, Students, and Alumni. The draft Campus Plan Update 2004 will then be communicated to the Emory community, including the neighborhood, for review and comment prior to completion of the final document. Learned ideas and information, coupled with known principles and patterns shall form the rational basis for planning. The order of growth and development shall be coincident to the vision of the institution and the economies of our resources. To contact the team: campusplan@emory.edu |
